Are contactless payments safe?

Yes. Contactless payments provide the same security and encryption as EMV chip payments. They generate a one-time security code unique to each transaction; protecting your card information from being used for any future unauthorized purchases. And you can’t pay accidentally – your card must be within 1 – 2 inches of the terminal for the sale to register; and even if you tap twice you won’t be billed twice. Contactless payments are also covered by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy* protecting you from unauthorized purchases.

*Visa’s Zero Liability Policy covers U.S.-issued cards and does not apply to certain commercial card transactions or any transactions not processed by Visa. You must notify Union Savings Bank immediately of any unauthorized use. If determined that the unauthorized transactions occurred because of your gross negligence or fraud, the special limitations on liability may not apply.
