Here Are Some Of The 10,000 Business Banking Stories We Help Tell

Customer Stories

Washington Supply Company

Washington Supply Company has been a building supply and information center in northwestern Connecticut since 1893.  Evolving with the times, it’s grown from a supplier of feed and grain, to lumber and hardware, to an outdoor living retailer.  Just over nine years ago, a group of employees bought the business with the financial support of Union Savings Bank.  Those owners/employees are President Valerie Sedelnick, Vice President Jay Combs, Jim Bate, and Tom Saunders.

South Farms

South Farms, in Morris, CT, has been in general manager Ben Paletsky’s family for generations.  Started as a dairy farm in the early 50’s, Paletsky has upended the original dairy farm with a vision to redefine New England agriculture. To support that vision, Paletsky needed a partner, not just a lender, so he turned to Union Savings Bank, where he has had a long term relationship.

Danbury Square Box Company

Christmas tradition at the home of Chris Ann and Michael Allen, owners of Danbury Square Box Company, means throwing out the present and looking at the box to see how it was constructed.  (Yes, that’s a family joke).   Danbury Square Box has been supplying the Danbury businesses and industries and surrounding communities since 1906.  They have been a financial customer of Union Savings Bank for decades.  Just like Union Savings Bank, they are deeply rooted and a strong provider in the Danbury community, helping many charities along the way.  Danbury Square Box is a manufacturer of custom corrugated cartons, point-of-purchase displays and promotional packaging.

Brookfield Cleaners and Tailors

Angelo DaCunha, owner of Connecticut’s Brookfield Cleaners and Tailors, won best dressed in high school. Seems like winning best dressed played a little bit as to why he’s been in the dry cleaning business since he was 16, and ultimately purchased the dry cleaner business in 1991. DaCunha and Union Savings Bank have been banking and financial partners for over 30 years.  DaCunha has grown the business from 1,700 square feet to 5,000 square feet, with services such as dry cleaning, men's clothing, custom tailoring, gown preservation and tuxedo rental. He continues to achieve his goal of knowing his customers by name, helping them look their best, all while growing his business.
