Union Savings Bank Donates Used Books to Schools in Connecticut

Donations can be made at any Union Savings Bank location

DANBURY, (May 3, 2017) – Union Savings Bank continues its ongoing community commitment by supporting schools in Connecticut and non-profit organizations with its 2nd annual Share the Love of Reading Book Drive. Until May 12th, Union Savings Bank is encouraging everyone in its communities to donate new and gently used books for the K-5th grade age range.

Union Savings Bank created The Share the Love of Reading Book Drive to further its commitment to education. Children who have access to books and begin reading at an early age develop into confident readers which in turn prepares them for success in school and in their future.

All books raised will be distributed to schools in Connecticut and non-profit groups in the communities Union Savings Bank serves.

“Books are a great way to open a child’s mind and encourage imagination,” said Union Savings Bank President and CEO Cynthia C. Merkle. “Reading strengthens a child’s confidence and inspires them to reach further into their education. This is just one of the reasons why our Share the Love of Reading Book Drive is so important to Union Savings Bank.”

In 2016, Union Savings Bank collected 500 books for local schools and non-profits. This year the goal is to collect 750 books. To donate, please drop off books at any one of Union Savings Bank 25 locations.
