Union Savings Bank Contribution Supports The Friends of the Bethel Public Library
Bank’s $5,000 event sponsorship will support library’s new Community Room

[Danbury, Conn. August 27, 2009] – Backed by a 10-piece band, Las Vegas and Atlantic City headliner Steve Lippia will appear at Ives Concert Hall  on the Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) campus in downtown Danbury at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 in "Simply Sinatra: A Salute to Old Blue Eyes." The concert is a fundraising event presented by the Friends of the Bethel Public Library, who will earmark proceeds for their library's future Community Room. Union Savings Bank is a $5,000 sponsor of the evening.

 
Lippia is one of the finest interpreters of the great American standards, especially the music of Frank Sinatra. He even uses musical arrangements from Sinatra's arrangers! He has performed to sold-out audiences with major symphonies across North America, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic, the Palm Beach Pops, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Pops, and many others.

Paul Larsen to Chief Lending Officer
Brian Skarda to Manager of Residential Mortgage and Consumer Lending



[Danbury, Conn. August 27, 2009] – Union Savings Bank (USB) President and CEO John C. Kline is pleased to announce promotions of Paul Larsen to senior vice president, chief lending officer and Brian Skarda to senior vice president, manager of Residential Mortgage and Consumer Lending.


“Paul and Brian’s promotions are a reflection of their extensive experience, industry insight and dedication to customer service,” said Kline. “Union Savings Bank is fortunate to have such seasoned lending professionals.”

A seven-year employee of the bank, Paul Larsen has served as senior vice president and manager of the bank’s Commercial Lending department. In his new position as chief lending officer he oversees all lending activity for USB, including commercial real estate, commercial and industrial lending, small business and residential mortgage and consumer lending departments.

Larsen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. The Treasury Management Association has certified him as a Treasury Professional. A resident of Newtown, Larsen serves as chairman of the board of Literacy Volunteers of America’s Danbury affiliate and is a member of the finance committee at Danbury Hospital.

Brian Skarda joined Union Savings Bank as a mortgage originator in 1996. He has since held positions of assistant vice president, mortgage lending and most recently, senior vice president, mortgage sales manager. In his new position, he is responsible for managing the bank’s Residential Mortgage and Consumer Lending areas, as well as the Loan Collection department.

A 21-year resident of Danbury, Conn., Skarda received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and history from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Penn. He serves on boards of directors for the Danbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Non-Profit Development Corporation of Danbury.
